History of National Donut Day
However, the history of National Donut Day are also charitable. This day was established by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor its Donut Lassies, brave ladies who offered donuts and other goodies to soldiers in France during World War I.
Today, we may all celebrate and enjoy free doughnuts (depending on availability) at popular chains like Dunkin’, Krispy Kreme, and Duck doughnuts, as well as many other donut or “doughnut” makers, depending on your preference.
